An Air Force airman has pleaded guilty to raping a female airman at the Air Force Academy.
Airman Basic Darwin Paredesillescas was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison during a court-martial hearing Monday. He could have received a sentence of life in prison.
His was the second court-martial on rape charges since a sexual assault scandal erupted at the academy last year. Cadet Douglas L.
Meester pleaded guilty in June to a reduced charge of assaulting a
fellow cadet after a night of drinking in a dorm room. Meester was reprimanded and fined $2,000.
