Those who use community centers in Colorado Springs are breathing a little easier.

The centers will more than likely get more time to try and raise funds to keep them afloat. That's the latest from the city council.

The original plan was to give the centers three months to come up with the funds and a plan to become self sustainable.

But during Monday's informal session, council members recognized their fundraising efforts so far and agreed to give them an extra nine months and nearly $500,000 to make it on their own.

"I feel great i think we got it done we are going to get the nine months i am positive about that. We still have work to do we are going to work right after this," says Eric Phillips of the Community Centers Task Force.

City council members will get back a report on the efforts of community centers to raise funds on June 14, 2010.
