A Denver woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for her 2-year-old son's scalding death.

Twenty-four-year-old Isela Reyes-Talamantes was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty in January to child abuse resulting in death. She originally was charged with first-degree murder, but the charge was dismissed in exchange for her plea.

Prosecutors say Elijah Archuleta died shortly after being taken to a hospital November 2008 with severe burns on 75 percent of his body. They say Reyes-Talamantes and her boyfriend drove around running errands while Elijah suffered in the back seat.

Reyes-Talamantes' boyfriend, John Vigil, also faces trial for first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death in the case.

In response to "triple" This is a sad story and the main focus is that theyre "aliens"? Who freaking cares where they are from. Good thing we dont know your race or we would characterize IGNORANCE with your race, since that is the way you work.

These probably illegal aliens should be put in there car in a desert area and let them die of the same thing that poor child died of.
