The head of Colorado's health department says he wants sweeping changes in the state's ability to oversee emergency medical technicians.
Douglas Benevento says current law restricts his department from monitoring the conduct of EMT's such as subpoenaing records and requiring employers to reveal allegations of abuse and incompetence.
Benevento says he plans to take recommendations tothe state legislature when it convenes in January.
