Light to moderate snow showers continue this Wednesday morning with cold temperatures to start the day. Roads are *very* icy and snow packed throughout southeast Colorado... so please allow extra time for the morning drive. Throughout the midday and afternoon, we'll keep the chance of some light, fine snow showers, but expecting minor accumulations through the day. Snow looks to finally push out this evening/overnight and our warm up begins. Head over to the "Weather' tab for a full look at the forecast.
Police in Texas think the body of a woman found near Fountain last week could be the latest victim in a string of truck stop murders happening all over the country. Thirty-year-old Jossie Lee Scott was found dead on Sunday, July 11th. Her body was covered with debris on Charter Oak Ranch Road, near the Tomahawk Truck Stop.
Police in Grapevine, Texas tell KKTV 11 News, they believe there could be a connection between Scott’s death and more than two dozen other murders across the country.
Scott’s last known address was in Dallas. Texas investigators believe Scott was working as a prostitute at truck stops in that area. So was Casey Jo Pipestem---a Dallas-area prostitute whose body was also dumped near a truck stop in Grapevine earlier this year.
However, El Paso County sheriff's deputies say, at this time, they don't see any strong links between those two cases.
El Paso County authorities have released pictures of two people they want to talk to about the Scott case. They think George Hammond, Jr. may have information about Scott. He's believed to be traveling with Shawna Reyes in a light blue Mazda 626.
This article contains a photo of George Hammond, Jr. If you have information about the whereabouts of Hammond or Shawna Reyes, call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP in Colorado Springs or 542-STOP in Pueblo.
