11 News is learning more about a Colorado Springs teenager who was killed after being hit by a car Monday morning.

Fifteen-year-old Ali Aashiq was a student at Palmer High School.

Counselors were on hand Tuesday to help students and teachers cope with the loss.

Students had to take C-SAP Tests on Tuesday and those who knew Ali say it was hard to focus because he was on their minds.

A makeshift memorial has been set up near the crash site. Friends tell 11 News Ali rode the bus and he was just feet from his bus stop when the accident happened on South Circle Drive in Colorado Springs.

Tamara McFarland, a licensed practical nurse, says she had just dropped her boyfriend off at work when she saw a man lying in the street and immediately got out to help.

"Your human instincts kick in first before you think about anything else. Somebody needs help and you just do it," said McFarland.

McFarland says she did all should could to save Ali. But, his injuries were too severe.

"I"m someone who deals with it all the time, but a child is different. My heart goes out to his family and friends," said McFarland.

The District Attorney's Office says it's too early to say whether or not any charges will be filed against the driver, 19-year-old Erick Ryan.

I know eric and he a fine youung man he would do nothing to hurt a child ever. He is a caring loving man for all of yall putting the guilt on him needs to stop none of us were there and in his shoes so we cant say what really happened. people need to mind there own buisness and just pray for the familys to get through there hard times. Age is just a number so nobody needs to put him down just cause he is 19 he has a family of his own and is very caring to his family

I know the driver personally and even if he has a driving record he is a fine young man and for 19 quite responsible.I am sure he did not get up that morning and said to himself lets race the car and kill someone. I have had many times young people either following to close or passing, so I am sure he is not the first 19 y old with record.I do believe that we pay enough taxes, that go to schools, so why not have a better transportation to keep kids from running the streets or waiting for a school bus too far from home. It is just a question of time when other horrible things could potentially happen. I have a 13y old and for this reasons I drive my child to school myself.I am so sorry for Ali and his family. No parents should experience loss of their child. For rest of you, do not judge since you do not know what happened. I know young man is dead, but believe me Erick has to live with this forever. My heart goes to both families!!!

I would like to know why is it that it was failed to be stated that the driver's 3 year old son was in the car with him. Or that they were not anywhere near a cross walk? That was also not mentioned. Its a sad situation all around.
