A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
They died July 11 near Al Hillah, Iraq, when the vehicle they were riding in was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle.
Both soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 94th Field Artillery Brigade, Baumholder, Germany. Killed were:
Sgt. James G. West, 34, of Watertown, N.Y.
Spc. Dana N. Wilson, 26, of Fountain, Colo.
The incident is under investigation.
