Counselors will be on hand Tuesday for students at Palmer High School after a student at the school was killed Monday walking on South Circle Drive in Colorado Springs.
The victim of the accident has been identified as 15-year-old Ali Aashiq, a student at Palmer High School. The driver of the vehicle who police say hit him has been identified as 19-year-old Erick Ryan of Colorado Springs.
Police say that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident, but they do believe excess speed could be a factor. The incident is still under investigation.
Police say the teen was hit by the car on South Circle Drive between Fountain and Airport Road in Colorado Springs. Aashiq died from his injuries.
Police say they have not yet determined how the crash occurred, but the car who hit the Aashiq ended up in the middle of the road and the victim's body ended up in the southbound lanes. There were also long skid marks on the road.
A nurse was traveling in a car behind the accident and got out of her car to administer CPR to the victim but he died on scene.
South Circle was closed for more than four hours but reopened around 11:40 a.m. Monday.
The driver of the car was taken to the hospital for evaluation. There are no pending charges against the driver at this time.

Ali and me weren't what you'd call close but we were getting there. The day he died my heart stopped, when i was told were he had gotten hit my heart had stopped again. It was just down my street and the sad thing about it all is that i was at another bus stop just up circle at pikes peak, i could have done something about it if i had just been listening to the sounds of tires screaching. We'll miss you Ali and we'll never forget your memories you gave us. God Bless and good bye old friend
man this was my nikka i know him since he went to emerson him and his brother
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Something related to this has my concern also, the streetlight reduction. My son walks three blocks to the bus stop every morning at 6:10am and it's completely dark out. Glad our City Council puts our safety last because they can't make the right decisions.
