A Colorado Springs Police Sergeant was thrown from his motorcycle early Saturday morning at the intersection of S. Tejon and Vermijo as he was responding to a disturbance call at SODO's Night Club. The sergeant was traveling southbound on Tejon when a passenger vehicle turned in front of the officer causing the officer to ram into the passenger side of the car and be thrown approximately 30 feet into the street.

The crash scene and cause of the crash is still under investigation and it is not yet determined if the officer had his flashing lights on while heading to the disturbance call. The driver of the car was arrested for suspicion of DUI and taken to a local hospital for testing. The Motor Officer was not seriously hurt and is expected to recover fully. Major Accident Unit investigators are on scene processing evidence. The road should be open as of Saturday morning.

As a friend of the officer in question, maybe you all should look at the facts before expressing your opinions. Phil was actually chasing 2 suspects at full speed with his lights and siren ON when the drunk turned left in front of him leaving him NO where to go but 45 feet onto the pavement. I take your comments and lack of respect RESONALLY. Pray you NEVER need a cop to protect you with your opinions !!!!! While Phil’s injuries have been deemed “non-life threatening,” Phil requires major facial reconstruction and rehabilitation, all because he was trying to Protect And Serve. If you must express an opinion, make sure you have the facts. Phil is one of the most easy-going, “work with your situation” kind of officers you will find. So “Blabby”, stuff it !!!! Phil has done more in his life than I can imagine you have, other than shooting your mouth off about something you don’t know !!!

Motorcycle cops are basically just mobile tax collection units! Why was this guy downtown, he should have been hiding behind a tree running a speed trap somewhere....

so amazing how our local news still tries to talk about local night clubs in stories that really have nothing to do with their buisness. the cspd officers where responding to a ambulance call were a female patron at the night club was having a medical emergency not related to fighting, gang activity, drinking or underage drinking.
