The governor has asked Colorado lawmakers to return to the Capitol next month for a summit on the state's financial crisis.
Governor Owens wants to hold a one-day caucus on August 2nd, a plan that is expected to get immediate consideration from legislative leaders from both parties. Owens says he wants agreement by two-thirds of the Legislature on a possible solution to the crisis before he calls a special session. If lawmakers approve a plan, it would go on the November ballot.
House Democratic leader Andrew Romanoff says the Republican governor shouldn't wait until next month if a plan can be crafted now.
