A hotel owner in New Orleans is offering to host a prom for seniors at a Mississippi high school.

The school's own prom was canceled after an 18-year-old lesbian student said she wanted to take her girlfriend, and wear a tux. The ACLU demanded that school officials change their policy against same-sex prom dates. And it said the district violated Constance McMillen's free expression rights by not letting her wear a tux.

McMillen is asking a federal judge to force the school district to reinstate the dance.

Meanwhile, New Orleans hotel owner Sean Cummings is offering to take the students to New Orleans by bus, and host a free prom at one of his properties.

He tells a Jackson newspaper (The Clarion-Ledger) he's disappointed with the school board's decision -- and that high school should be concluded on a "joyful" note.

Ok, being GAY used to be viewed as something you were born with but thats not how it is anymore. Hollywood has done quite a job making "gay" so popular now that most high school students classify themselves as "bicurous". Girls think its hot to like other girls because that’s the portrayal on TV. Not everyone who has a same sex partner is actually gay, it’s just been blown up so much that kids think it’s the way to make a statement. I think its recent popularity is sad for the people who are actually gay; teenagers are making a mockery of it exclaiming that you do have a choice. Teens of today are gay today and straight the next. They will do anything to gain attention and rebel against their parents and this is a form of that for many. If you don’t believe it ask an honest high school student how many of their friends are now “bi”, you would be amazed. Right now it’s just the popular thing to be. This generation out to be the “generation of complete confusion”!
