It was another somber day at Ft. Carson as five fallen soldiers were remembered.

They died last month while serving in Afghanistan. Three of them were killed in the same attack.

Family and friends gathered at the Soldiers' Memorial Chapel on post Thursday morning to honor the fallen heroes.

Staff Sgt. John Reiners was serving his third tour when he was killed. He was a native of Lakeland, Florida and a huge Florida Gators football fan.

Staff Sgt. Michael Cardenaz was a 12-year Army veteran. He is remembered as a fun-loving young hero.

Sgt. Jeremiah Wittman is remembered as a strong leader with a big heart. Fellow soldiers say he interacted well with Afghan children giving them pins and candy.

Spc. Bobby Pagan was serving his first tour. He is remembered as a quiet, loving man who took his job seriously and led by example.

Pfc. JR Salvacion had just joined the Army a year ago. Fellow comrades say he was always talking about his family and how excited he was to get home.

All five soldiers were assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

Four of the five soldiers leave behind wives and children. The other soldier, Spc. Pagan, leaves behind his fiance who is in the same unit.
