Pueblo Says It's Losing Money On Traffic Cameras
Pueblo city officials say cameras that catch red light runners at two intersections have cost more to operate than they generate in fines.

Pueblo city officials say cameras that catch red light runners at two intersections have cost more to operate than they generate in fines.

Pueblo pays $15,000 a month to American Traffic Solutions for the camera setups, or about $90,000 since they started operating in September.

The city has collected about $70,000 in fines from the lights, located at Thatcher and Prairie westbound and Highway 50 and Norwood, both east and westbound.

American Traffic Solutions reviews video and still photos from the cameras and sends possible violations to Pueblo police, who decide whether to issue a ticket.

...well I've said from day one traffic cameras can only be approved through a common sense cost benefit analysis to see whether or not they are useful. Well I'm right again. "Nuff said."

Take a look at what's happening in England with security cameras (even cameras in private homes.) It's gonna happen here, too but you'll want it when they sell you the "safety" issue. Let's get rid of the 4th amendment, I mean, if you have nothing to hide, what's a few (thousand) more cameras?

I see dozens of offenders daily. To say that you are FREE and have the right to break the law and put people and families at risk is foolish. The best way to avoid a ticket by these so-called "spies".... don't run the light!! The savings is much more than what fines generate anyway...police man-hours are saved and so is property damage from accidents. If you don't like the cameras, send a strong message to city government and MOVE!!! They will lose sales tax and property tax from all of you FREE people.
