Two climbers from out-of-state had to be rescued from the top of the Kissing Camels rock formation in the Garden of the Gods Park Tuesday afternoon.

Rescuers say the climbers didn't have the proper equipment, appropriate clothing, or a permit.

The climbers were not injured. Both will now have to face a judge, who will decide what kind of fine they face based on how many rescuers were needed to get them out of trouble.

Fire fighters say because the weather is getting better they expect to see a lot more climbers out on the rocks, and that means more possibilities for injury or rescues.

Authorities say if you want to climb, that's great, just do it the right way. "The biggest thing is to check in over at the visitor's center," says Lt. Mike Smaldino with the Colorado Springs Fire Department. He says knowing how many stranded climbers there are makes a big difference in how they respond.

Tuesday, it was initially reported that there were four climbers stuck on Kissing Camels. Later, once several rescuers reached the climbers, they found out it was only two people.

My statement was typed correctly the first time. Apparently you cannot enter a plus sign on here. When you do, it does not show up.

Well.. obviously with all the cuts that means people don't have to follow the rules. They should have left them there for awhile. Like a cat in a tree, I am sure they could have gotten down on their own.

Stupid is as stupid does. Aren't signs all over the place there that say NOT to climb if you don't have a permit and the right equipment? Dummies, can't they read? Or do our regulations not apply to them?
