A grass fire is burning on a training range at Fort Carson. A spokesman says the fire is about 700 acres in size but it's 80 percent contained.

We are told that the fire is burning in a remote location where it is not threatening any structures.

Fire crews are working to contain the flames and are getting some help in the form of rain.

John...I am one of those firefighters and no I am not a CSFD firefighter. I am not here to argue but if you re read what I wrote, I said they needed to take preventative measures not stop training. You need to do your research and see how many times Fountain Fire, El Paso County, Air Force, and Security Fire has responded to Ft Carsons fires. They cant handle the fires on their own. CJ......Controlled burns? Ha! Ft Carson loses their burns all the time and then they call them "accidental training fires". The DO start prescribed burns during red flag days and then when they get away they blame it on an accident. Its the Military, They cover everything up You people need to do a little research on what you are speaking of. I know from experience and fighting fires with them. I do thank a soldier....I have one for a husband!

To Chris and A, for one the FIRES are a CONTROLLED BURN, to burn off the DEAD undergrowth that if NOT burned off during the SUMMER SEASON it can become A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. Which would probably jump the ROAD and ENDANGER the POPULATION around FORT CARSON. So which would YOU LIKE them to DO burn in the WINTER or WAIT TILL SUMMER to BURN when ITS EXTREMELY DRY or in the WINTER when the GROUND is WET. To me when I saw it today IT WAS CONTAINED by the Fort Carson Range Control and Post Fire Department. I GIVE you the RIGHT to post your OPINION on HERE, I GIVE you the RIGHT to COMPLAIN. Just REMEMBER THANK a SOLDIER for ALL THE FREEDOMS YOU HAVE.
