Chances are if you've driven anywhere in Colorado Springs, you've hit one or swerved to avoid one. We're talking about the problem with potholes.
Six crews are out daily fixing them. “I've done this for 13 years and this is the worst I've ever seen it," says Sam Webb who contracts with the city.
The city streets division says part of the reason the potholes are so bad is due to the $4.5 million cut from their annual budget. That was money used to repave old streets.
At Big O’ Tires, they’re staying busy with cars that have been damaged by potholes. “You can have damage to anything from the tire to the wheel to the suspension components. You can damage a lot of the undercarriage of the car," says Scott Warren, assistant manager at the store. That's damage that can cost up to $1,000.
If you want to report a pothole in Colorado Springs, there's a 24 hotline where you can leave a message. It's 385-6808.

There are many, many potholes here, especially on the busy streets. What I don't understand is that the city can have several major road projects, including the one on S. Academy at the PPCC area. This is an area that was just redone last year, what is the sense of adding more to it if the city doesn't even have the money to fix the major potholes. This happens every year and the pothole situation seems to be getting worse. This makes no logical sense.
