The District Attorney says the facts do not support the charges against him. A Pueblo woman accused Corsentino of extortion, amid accusations by a former employee that he released her personnel records without her permission.

In a statement released Tuesday, Corsentino had this to say:

"As I have said all along, I knew these charges were false and were politically motivated by those trying to damage my campaign because I am the only Republican candidate who can win in November. After more than 12 years faithfully serving the public and cleaning up a formerly corrupt Sheriff's office, balancing budgets and instilling professionalism in an overwhelming Democrat county, these attacks were purely designed to harm the reputation I have built. I am proud to be the Sheriff of Pueblo County and I am proud to be the only candidate from southern Colorado in Republican field for Congress."
