A soggy, stormy afternoon in Southern Colorado keeps people on their toes. The severe weather causes delays and keeps fire crews busy.
Fire investigators say it may have been lightning that had firefighters respond to a housefire. Flames would eventually torch the roof, causing the ceiling to collapse.
Hail and lightning also forced Pikes Peak Hill Climb spectators at the summit to come down the mountain after the storm calms down. The race did continue after a 2-hour delay. But the racing route was cut in half with much disappointment to racers hoping to get to the finish line.
Race officials say the hail was so deep near the summit, they had to send up snow plows to clear the road from all the hail.
