According to federal court records, Denver's Joint Terrorism Task Force is studying financial records of Massoud Farazandeh, Omid Shekarchian and Melanie Franklin for evidence of tax evasion. Court records allege Franklin, Farazandeh and businesses run by Farazandeh and Shekarchian have not filed tax returns in recent years, and that Shekarchian has never filed a return.
The records also say Farazandeh and Shekarchian also have been accused of having links to foreign terrorist organizations. Authorities say so far, no one has been charged.
Attorney Walter Gerash says during a search of Franklin's home, an agent held a pistol to her head and to the head of her 10-year-old son.
Franklin, a Muslim convert, says she also was asked her religion and if she was a loyal American. Authorities are denying those allegations.
