A 24-year-old Army corporal who contracted encephalitis while in Iraq has died.
Adam White is the 46th Fort Carson soldier whose death is attributed to service in Iraq.
He died Saturday after spending half a year unable to speak or move.
He is survived by his wife Dorit of Colorado Springs and his wife's daughter Callista.
Doctors do not know how White got sick, but theories include insect-born diseases and an adverse reaction to a flu shot.
White had been in Iraq eight months when he woke up December 7th unable to control the left side of his body. Doctors found swelling in White's brain, and he left Iraq paralyzed.
