Denver Nuggets rookie Carmelo Anthony will join the U-S Olympic squad after all.
Denver media outlets reported late yesterday that Anthony's agent confirmed acceptance of an invitation to the team.
The spot opened up when Detroit Pistons stars Ben Wallace and Richard Hamilton declined their invitations because of security concerns.
Officials with U-S-A Basketball and the Denver Nuggets have not commented.
Anthony's mother, Mary, told a Denver newspaper that her son told her of his selection.
Anthony led all rookies in scoring during the 2003-2004 season, but
finished second to Cleveland Cavaliers guard LeBron James in Rookie of the Year voting.
Both James and Anthony have now been asked to play for Team U-S-A at the Athens Games.
