A year in the field is over and the welcome home is just beginning. Nearly a hundred more soldiers returned to Southern Colorado Thursday night.
Ft. Carson's 4th Engineering Battalion are making their way home after deploying first to Iraq, and then relocating later to Afghanistan.
The Mountain Post hosted a homecoming ceremony for 89 soldiers Thursday night. The men and women in uniform were met by the screams and cheers of a packed room full of loved ones and well-wishers.
"I can't put it into words," said 1SGT John Teets. "I missed them every second of every day I was gone, and to be able to hold my little girl and kiss my wife again is just amazing."
Thursday night's homecoming is the second this week. About 280 of the 4th Engineers arrived Tuesday. The rest of the group are expected in the coming days.
