There's a new pilot program now available that's helping veterans and retirees get to Fort Carson.

Silver Key Senior Services added a new route to the army base so seniors, who are eligible, can use its services. Seven ladies took advantage of the free trip Monday.

They visited the commissary and some got their prescriptions filled. "It's just an excellent opportunity for us that are eligible for our benefits from our husbands and we haven't been able to for quite a while unless someone was kind enough to bring us," says Sue Carazo.

Silver Key is currently looking for volunteers. To contact the organization you can call (719) 884-2381. To make a reservation to use the free transportation you can call (719) 884-2380.

Thanks to KKTV and Marybeth Brush for helping Silver Key spread the word regarding our initial service to Ft. Carson for our local vets and their eligible dependents. We are proud to offer this transportation service, partially funded by rider donations, to our seniors aged 60 years and older, especially during times of changes in public transportation. Silver Key serves all seniors (not limited to military vets) in the Colorado Springs area. Thanks again KKTV!
