Slick roads are causing some drivers to crash Sunday night Monday and that's putting the Colorado Springs Police Department on accident alert status. 11 News spotted some crashes Sunday and Monday and spoke with a woman who walked away with no injuries after her van overturned after driving over some ice.

All Katherine Duffy wanted to do was get home after a long day at work. "Just wanted to be home and be done for the day," says Duffy.
But there was an obstacle in her way. And it was one that she didn't see
"Didn't appear to be too icy out cause, ya know, it hadn't gotten too dark, ya know, figured not everything was sticking yet," says Duffy.

As she started driving over some ice on a curve on Austin Bluffs Parkway, she started to slide. "I corrected it and turned it to the right, but I must have over corrected cause it went to the right hit a barrier. As soon as I hit the barrier, it rolled back then turned over on its side," says Duffy. A bystander helped her get out of her van.

A little more north on Austin Bluffs Parkway another car, spun out and hit a cement wall. It also had to be towed away.

Duffy offers some advice for anyone driving in similar conditions. "I would just recommend everyone be slow even if it doesn't appear to be too slick cause that wind chill can freeze stuff up pretty quick," says Duffy.

Once again Colorado Springs police are on accident alert status. What that means is if drivers are involved in a traffic accident with no death or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and there's no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole, drivers should then exchange information and fill out a cold report by stopping by any police substation or online. WHEN THE POLICE ARE ACCIDENT ALERT STATUS, DO THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS THINK IT WOULD BE IN THEIR BEST INTERESTS TO DELAY OR CANCEL SCHOOL?! THEY REPORTED THAT THE MAIN RDS WERE MAINLY CLEAR, BUT THE SIDE ROADS WERE ICY AND DANGEROUS, GUESS WHERE 99.9% OF THE SCHOOLS ARE LOCATED????
