The Army is offering active duty soldiers at Fort Carson laser or photo-refractive surgery.
Priority will be given to Brigade Combat Teams and Special Forces Groups, units most likely to go to combat in Iraq.
The post newspaper, the Fort Carson Mountaineer, reported Friday that second priority will be given to support groups.
It reported the clinic is already doing 500 eye surgeries a year and hopes to triple that.
Mike Ives, Eye Clinic supervisor at Evans Army Community Hospital, said not needing glasses or contacts in combat will make soldiers a lot less vulnerable.
