In contrast to the U.S. Federal Government offices and the stock market, Colorado's state offices will remain open Friday during the state funeral for former President Ronald Reagan in Washington, D.C.

All federal offices will be closed to observe the national day of mourning. The closure will include suspended regular mail service.

Governor Owens says the practice in Colorado has been to maintain services for citizens, but he urges everyone to take a moment to recall Reagan's accomplishments.

State offices in Colorado remained open following the deaths of
President Lyndon Johnson and President Richard Nixon. Owens plans to attend Reagan's funeral in Washington, D.C.
