SkyWest Airlines Lands in Colorado Springs

Utah's SkyWest Airlines says it's going to open a maintenance base and provide crew housing in Colorado Springs. The new facility will begin operations the 1st of August, and will be fully operational by December.

SkyWest Chief Operating Officer Ron Reber says Colorado Springs is a natural location, especially as the airline continues its eastward expansion. SkyWest will lease a hangar on the airport grounds while plans are being developed to build a new onsite facility.

Workers at the facility will do overnight maintenance for the airline's fleet. It operates Bombardier manufactured 50-passenger and 70-passenger Canadair Regional Jets.
