A three-hour power outage in Pueblo is being blamed for a rollover crash that ejected a young girl.

Lights were out in downtown Pueblo for about three hours Sunday. Police say traffic lights weren't working at an intersection around midday when a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo hit a Chevrolet Blazer.

The Blazer rolled and landed upside down. A girl was ejected, and two other people in the Blazer had to be removed by rescuers. All the unnamed victims were taken to Parkview Medical Center, but their injuries were described as not serious.

The power outage also left a man trapped in a downtown elevator for about an hour.

A spokesman for Black Hills Energy says it's not clear what caused the power failure.

Um...the power failure didn't "cause" the crash...the failure of both drivers to follow the rules of the road did. When traffic lights are not working, you're supposed to treat the intersection like a 4-way stop. Apparently that didn't happen. Lets not blame anyone other than these two poor drivers for the wreck.

I think that people not knowing the traffic laws should be blamed for this one. If the traffic signal is not operating or is malfunctioning, treat the intersection as a four way stop. Flashing yellow means SLOW DOWN and proceed with CAUTION! Flashing red means STOP then proceed with CAUTION! To many people just drive along like they are the only ones on the road, no respect:-(
