Airport security has gotten tighter since the thwarted Christmas Day bombing of a U.S. airliner that landed in Detroit.

Since then passengers in many airports around the world have gone through a double screening, and even babies have been frisked. In-flight screens showing the plane's location and flight path have been switched off.

At Europe's busiest air hub, London's Heathrow Airport, flights to the U.S. are running about an hour behind schedule. British Airways is telling those travelers to carry only one item of hand luggage and to expect any gifts they're carrying to be unwrapped at security.

Canada is banning most all carry-on luggage for U.S.-bound passengers except things like medical devices, small purses, electronics, musical instruments and diaper bags.

Richard Brandt of Ireland says it doesn't make sense to ban passengers from using the bathroom an hour before the plane lands. He says, "I can't see what kind of difference that would make. If it's an eight hour flight they could still have seven hours to blow up the plane if that's what they want to do."
