The El Paso County District Attorney's office wants the public to know about a telephone scam.

The office got 10 calls Wednesday alone from citizens who were targeted.

The calls came from the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. number (954) 689-7681. The caller told residents there was a special offer, and asked for their credit card numbers.

When callers hung up, they got a second call from the same number, claiming to be about their vehicle warranties.

Experts say you should never give your credit card information over the phone to someone you don't know.

Contact me for prosecution evidence: I recorded the entire conversation as .mp3 file-- starting from their bogus recorded introduction telling me my (21-year old!) vehicle qualifies for their warranty, and then about a 30-second conversation with Jess (or Jeff) in Florida-- who hung up after I asked for more company information. Called "The Warranty Division" at (954) 689-7681. Showed up on Caller ID as "Arther (SIC) Bailey" on 20JUN07 at 11:00 Mountain time, and neither *69 nor a direct call would go through.

Saw your article linked here, there's alot more on this scammer on this thread and also the FTC has gone after them a few years back. Almost all the calls will begin with a recordeed message. Hit 1 and if you try to ask questions about the scam they'll hang up. Violates provisions of the TCPA which were implemented at the same time the National Do Not Call list was started. http://groups.google.com/group/news.admin.net-abuse.email/browse_frm/thread/81e87296d44c6bf8/8a2ec58c87330688#8a2ec58c87330688
