It will be cooler today with mostly cloudy skies. Highs in the 30's and 40's.
Look for light to moderate snow to develop this evening and continue through the day tomorrow. For Colorado Springs and Pueblo, snow will be heaviest tonight through early tomorrow morning. Here's a look at snowfall potential THIS EVENING through WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON:
1-3" - Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Pueblo West, Falcon, Fountain, Canon City, Ordway, La Junta, Lamar
3-6" - Monument, Woodland Park, Black Forest, Calhan, Limon, Cripple Creek, Rye, Beulah, Walsenburg, Trinidad, La Veta, Westcliffe, Kim, Springfield, Sheridan Lake, Eads
A secondary upper-level wave will drop in from the north Wednesday night into Thursday, perhaps leading to additional snow accumulation throughout this time-frame.
In addition, a strong north wind will develop on Wednesday, lasting through Thursday. This will lead to blowing and drifting snow along with reduced visibility, especially for areas that have had several inches of snow accumulation. In fact, areas along/near the Palmer Divide and Far Eastern Plains MIGHT experience blizzard-like conditions during this time-frame. PLEASE keep this in mind if you have travel planned in these areas. It will remain quite cold on Thursday with highs only in the 20's. However, it will feel MUCH COLDER when you factor in the wind.
Christmas Day will be calmer...but COLD! Highs will only manage the teens and 20's. A few light snow showers or flurries will remain possible but additional accumulation is not anticipated.
A ridge of high pressure will build in this weekend allowing for ample sunshine and moderating temperatures (30's and low 40's).
