One person, a 26-year-old male, was taken to the hospital Tuesday evening with unknown injuries, after their SUV was slammed into by a garbage truck.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says the wreck happened at the intersection of Vollmer and Burgess Roads in Black Forest, closing down Vollmer for a period Tuesday night.

Authorities say the driver of the Pathfinder had stuttered as he was pulling out onto Vollmer from Burgess and that's when the garbage truck collided with the SUV.

The garbage truck driver was not injured in the accident, and the extent of the SUV driver's injuries were unknown.

These comments really bother me. This was a REAL person that was injured, and it was MY HUSBAND. He was severly injured, broken neck, hip, head injury, cracked skull, broken ribs, ruptured spleen, etc. Think how you would feel if it happend to someone you love, and you saw people saying, "Good, another Honda civic off the road!" And that SUV that you're so glad is off the road, was the ONLY transportation we had to hual our 4 children around. By the way, our 4th baby was born while he was in ICU with a feeding tube down his throat and I didn't know at that point if he was going to live. So next time you want to make insensitive comments, remember, its a REAL person you're talking about.

Glad the person is ok, and even more glad another SUV is off the road!

Good, one more SUV off the road. I hope it's totaled and will never be on the road again. I do hope the driver will be OK, though.
