NORAD is tracking Santa's big Christmas Eve trip. That's happening now.

You can click on the link below this story to visit the North American Aerospace Defense Command's Santa Web site.

Updates on Santa's flight will be posted throughout Christmas Eve. Santa can also be tracked on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and TroopTube.mil.

Starting early Christmas Eve morning, kids can start calling NORAD's tracking center to get updates, or even email questions. The phone number to call toll free is 1-877-Hi-NORAD. Email is noradtracksanta@gmail.com.

It's the 54th year NORAD and its predecessor have tracked Santa. The tradition started in 1955 when a newspaper ad mistakenly listed the command's phone number instead of Santa's.

NORAD is headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base.

Wow, you are a moron. This is very real and they do a real fantastic job of doing this every year. Maybe you should check into your heart and see that you do not stay a moron next year. THANKS NORAD!!!

Hey Wow... Norad is funded by donations and sponsorship... The man power comes from volunteers throughout the community... As for the bums down by the river... there are MANY taz funded programs for them, and last time I volunteered one of the "bums" told me if I wasn't gong to give him money or a drink, he wasn't interested... When was the last time you heard a child say that? In my opion... The money spend on making a child's imagination grow is better spent then helping grown people with self inflicted issues. By the way, I volunteered at NORAD last night, time of my life... Merry Christmas!

I donated my time to answer the phones during this unselfish event. There was not one person there who was there because they got paid. I consider it an honor to participate. I hope it continues for many more years. I also hope that I am given the opprotunity to continue answering the kids calls. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night... Ho, Ho, Ho.
