Coloradans who gobble down fast food can no longer sue such restaurants for their afflictions.
Governor Bill Owens signed a bill Monday, which prevents people from filing lawsuits for obesity and other ills, saying citizens have no
right to blame corporations for their personal problems. It took effect immediately as the governor signed it.
The measure was one of four the governor signed into law to protect businesses. He also approved legislation allowing employers and employees to open Health Savings Accounts. A third bill creates a retail sales tax database after businesses complained that hundreds of tax rules make it difficult to do business. The fourth bill prevents the awarding of non-economic damages in breach-of-contract cases.
