Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson says the bear was
spotted in the field early this morning climbing a cottonwood tree.

Several deputies were called in to make sure the bear didn't leave,
and officials called in state Division of Wildlife agents.

The bear was tranquilized about three hours after it was first
spotted and taken by wildlife officials to an unidentified area for
release.

Authorities say the male bear was about three years old and
weighed about 200 to 250 pounds.
