The Environmental Protection Agency has authorized Cotter Corporation to accept Superfund waste material at its two sites at the uranium mill south of Canon City.
But, that doesn't necessarily mean it will happen. First, the company must get permission from state officials, and another permit from the EPA. The federal agency still has to approve a rail spur that would used to get the material to the dumps. Jerry Powers, a spokesman for Cotter, said the approval for the rail spur should be no problem.
