The last members of a Fort Carson's 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment have returned home from Iraq after more than a year there.
About 90 soldiers from the combat unit were treated to a welcome-home ceremony at the post in Colorado Springs Monday after their plane landed at nearby Peterson Air Force Base.
Officials say this last group all volunteered to stay behind after other members of the unit left to make sure all the equipment got back to Fort Carson.
Now, about 100 members Fort Carson's other combat unit, the 3rd Brigade Combat Team are the only ones from the mountain post still in Iraq. They are expected home later this year.
