Prince Drive in Colorado Springs has reopened Tuesday evening, following an emergency closure to repair a broken sewer line.

The pipe was damaged Monday afternoon during construction of the North Academy-Woodmen interchange project.

Cheryl Everitt, with Wilson & Company, Inc., the engineering firm heading up the project, said a subcontractor working for Qwest caused the sewer line break on Prince Drive.

Prior to the accident, Prince Drive was the sole access to the neighborhood, since construction work had shut down nearby York Road. Crews reopened York Road in order to allow access temporarily, while repairs to the sewer system were completed. They are shutting down York again following that completion.
