A former boxer and self-proclaimed youth role model gets the maximum sentence for felony charges. It's a follow up to an Exclusive 11 News investigation.
Hulond “Coach” Copeland of Colorado Springs will spend 10 years in jail. The 45-year-old pled guilty to distributing cocaine and attempting to influence a public servant.
Police arrested Copeland on November 13, 2003 after months of surveillance. They say he “sold” community service hours to offenders who were ordered to do the work as part of their court-ordered punishment. Investigators say he also offered them drugs and prostitutes.
Copeland has already served 168 days behind bars.
