Just days after returning from Iraq, Pvt. Nicholas Parisi died while rock climbing in Cheyenne Canyon.

On Wednesday afternoon, the 18-year-old was free-climbing with a friend. He was unable to negotiate a ledge as he approached the top of his climb, and fell 300 feet. Colorado Springs Fire rescuers were able to retrieve his body.

Fort Carson officials say Pvt. Parisi was from Bellmawr, New Jersey. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 68th Armor. He had just returned from deployment in Operation Iraqi Freedom on April 12th.
