Wildfire Update

Firefighters are working to contain a small wildfire burning near the Big Elk fire near Rocky Mountain National Park.

The 1-acre fire started yesterday between U.S. Highway 36 and the
4,413-acre Big Elk fire. The cause isn't known.

The 4,413 acre Big Elk fire was fully contained Friday. Crews there continue to mop up the perimeter and assess what areas should be reseeded to prevent erosion.

Elsewhere in Colorado, a 564-acre brush fire in a remote area of Fort Carson was reported fully contained Saturday.
