Colorado unemployment continues to decline with the latest figures showing the seasonally adjusted rate for October at 6.9 percent.

That's a slight decline from September, when the rate was at 7 percent. It was 7.3 percent in August. Colorado's unemployment rate last October was 5.3 percent.

The figures released Friday by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment show that about 184,300 residents are looking for work. At the same time, state officials say that some of the Colorado's biggest industries also added jobs in October. Government added 7,300 more and there were 1,900 added in education and health services

The national unemployment rate is 10.2 percent.

Where are you people at KKTV getting these statistics? There has been NO decline in unemployment in Colorado. The ONLY reason the number has declined is because so many people exhausted their benefits at the beginning of October and are no longer looking for work. Furthermore, there are NO jobs here. The labor department also has yet to get information out to those who remain unemployed, many for 2 to 3 years in this city, even though President Obama signed this into law three weeks ago today. Several other states managed to get payments of this extension out within a week. Why has Colorado not even bothered to get information to those who are eligible? Furthermore these are federal funds so Colorado has no choice but to pay out the entire 14 weeks. Governor Ritter and Colorado Department of Labor please get your act together. The TRUE unemployment rate in Colorado Springs is probably closer to 15% to 16% so Colorado would do well to start acting on truth not propaganda.
