A Pueblo man died Thursday in a single vehicle accident about four miles west of the town of Rye in southern Colorado.

The accident happened on highway 165, near mile post 25, however the time of the wreck and cause are still under investigation.

At this time, State Patrol reports that a 40-year-old man from Pueblo was driving a 1999 Saturn SL eastbound on the state highway when he failed to make a turn and went off the road.

Authorities say the vehicle collided with a rock and then went airborne, crashing into a barbed wire fence. The driver, who wasn't wearing his seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle.

It's not clear yet if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident, and the name of the victim has not yet been released.
