A man who disappeared after his house burned to the ground in July has been found and arrested for first degree arson.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says on July 22 at 4 a.m., a call was received about a house fire at 13645 Wild Oak Drive in Black Forest. Crews worked for several hours on the fire. The house was a total loss due to the extensive damage caused by the flames.

Investigators searched for several days following the fire to contact the owner of the home, 48-year-old Mark Rance but he had disappeared. When he was found and interviewed, an arrest warrant was issued.

Rance was arrested on Tuesday, November 17 at 8255 Forest Heights Circle. He's being charged with First Degree Arson. He's being held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on a $75,000 bond.
