Colorado Springs firefighters were called to a fire a little after 10 p.m. Sunday.

Fire officials say the fire was in a garage on Whimbrel Lane, on the southwest side of Colorado Springs.

Firefighters say when they arrived the garage was engulfed in flames. They were able to put it out in about ten minutes. The fire spread a little way into the house. Heat and smoke damage have made it unlivable.

Fire officials say the family of four who lived there will be staying with friends.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
