A convenience store clerk is recovering after being attacked during a robbery Thursday evening.
The incident happened at the 7-Eleven on 331 S. Hancock.
During an argument between suspect and clerk, the clerk tried to call police. Police say the suspect then grabbed the open cash register and started pulling out money. The clerk tried to stop him, and the two started struggling with each other.
During the fight, police say the suspect punched the clerk in the head, then ran from the scene. Witnesses chased after him until officers arrived on scene. The suspect was seen going into an apartment complex at 812 S. Meade, so police contained the complex and brought three police dogs to help with the search.
Police told 11 News Thursday night that they had a suspect in custody. No official arrest has been made at this time, and police say they are still investigating.
