President Barack Obama plans to attend a memorial at Texas' Fort Hood today, where a gunman's rampage left 13 dead and 29 more wounded.
The President will also meet with the families of those killed.
Kevin Sullivan, who served as President George W. Bush's communications director, says Obama's presence "sends a message that he understands this is a national moment." He says what really matters is that Obama is able to provide comfort to the victims' families.
Lt. General Robert Cone says at least 3,000 people are expected to attend the event.
The suspect in the shooting, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, is accused of firing off more than 100 rounds before a civilian police officer shot him. He survived and is in stable condition.
Officials say Hasan will be tried in a military court.

The internment camps won't be for muslims. After Obama sends thousands more to the middle east and there is a terrorist attck next year we will have foreign troops to help us. Obama is the first US president on the UN security Council. Should be an easy task.

Maybe while he is there he can tell the family's why he hasn't retracted his comment about a guy who now falls 100% into terrorist category now(they got the evidence). Oh I forgot muslims defend muslim actions. If Obama does not denounce this man's actions as terrorist actions then he is spitting in the military's face, as well as the Nation who ignorantly elected this muslum filth supporter. Just maybe we need internment camps for muslims, they can't be trusted nor should they.
