The federal government might pay 75 percent ofthe cost of building a pipeline from the Lower Arkansas Valley to Lake Pueblo.

The plan was first approved by Congress in 1962 as part of the
Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. It is awaiting reauthorization by
Congress.

Republican Colorado Senator Wayne Allard has introduced
legislation asking the federal government to pay 75 percent of the
estimated $160 to $200 million cost.

The remaining 25 percent would be paid by local entities.
