Robbery-Shootout Suspect still at Large

On Friday, around 1:30 P.M., Colorado Springs Police officers responded to an alarm at the Bank One at 7190 N. Academy Blvd.

An officer arriving on scene came under immediate gunfire from the suspect running away from the bank. The officer attempted to follow the suspect, who was observed getting into a light grey sport utility type vehicle.

The officer pursued the suspect vehicle southbound on I-25 and eventually southbound on Nevada Ave. The officer followed the suspect vehicle south to the intersection of Circle and Verde where he eventually lost sight.

The suspect is described as an African-American male, in his late twenties, approximately 6’0 tall, approximately 180 lbs., with curly hair. During the robbery he was wearing a dark color hooded sweatshirt, dark color trench coat, light color pants, Nike tennis shoes, dark color facial mask, carrying a green bag and armed with a handgun.

Colorado Springs Robbery detectives believe the suspect has been involved in thirteen previous bank robberies in the Colorado Springs area, dating back approximately 30 months. The suspect usually wears a dark color trench coat.
