The Air Force Academy has chosen Chris Mooney to take over for departing Falcons' basketball coach Joe Scott.

Mooney has been the associate men's coach under Scott for the past two years, after serving as an assistant for two.

The 31-year-old Mooney is a 1994 graduate of Princeton University. Mooney says he's honored and ecstatic to be the head basketball coach at what he called the nation's greatest school.

All other assistant coaches serving under Scott will remain on the coaching staff. Scott resigned on Wednesday to accept the head coaching position at Princeton.

Air Force junior guard Tim Keller says he's shocked at Scott's departure, but excited and ready to move on with Mooney in charge.
